Thank you to all who have dedicated so many hours to watching Mama owl over the past several years. It is with great sorrow that we inform you of her passing. She was found deceased on February 10, 2009 under a palm tree at the Environmental Studies Area on campus.
Thank you for sharing this awesome experience with us and for the opportunity to bring nature to your desktop. We hope you enjoyed the antics of all the generations of her young. Because it is a great location from which to hunt we are hopeful that another owl or bird of prey will find the nest and we’ll be able to continue sharing this look into the natural world with you.

With Sympathy,

We are keeping our eyes out for Mama Owl. There are signs that she has visited the nest but we have only seen her in the trees on the south east end of campus, in the trees at FACT.
